Louth photographer’s work displayed in Rome

A collection of photographs documenting the lives of religious orders in Ireland is being exhibited at the Brancolini Grimaldi Gallery in Rome.

From Glenstal Abbey in Limerick to the Poor Clares in Dublin, photographer Jackie Nickerson was given unprecedented access to the private worlds of Ireland’s religious orders in their places of work and prayer.

Nickerson, who has already had solo exhibitions in Ireland and the US, said she was delighted that her exhibition, entitled Faith, would be showing in Rome.

Born in Boston, but now living in Co Louth, Nickerson won the AIB Prize earlier this year, an award that identifies emerging Irish artists of exceptional talent.

She worked in Milan, Paris and New York as a fashion photographer in the 1990s, and her work was featured in magazines including Elle, Marie Claire, Wallpaper and Vogue.
