Humanists lose legal challenge against Catholic School

The British Humanist Association (BHA) has lost its legal challenge to plans for two new Catholic schools in Richmond, south west London.

The organisation, together with a group of local parents opposed to the scheme - which has been put forward by the Archdiocese of Westminster - claimed Richmond Council had broken the law by approving the opening of schools that can prioritise Catholic children.

Their application for a judicial review of the council's decision has been rejected by a High Court judge.

The BHA has said it will now consider whether to appeal the decision.
